Justa R. (Guadalupe) Sabo, 81, of Benton, died Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born December 19, 1942 in Gurabo, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Jose and Concepcion (Riviera) Guadalupe. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Nicholas F. "Nick" Sabo, on August 29, 2021.
Justa was educated in Puerto Rico and faithfully and honorably served in the U. S. Army. She had worked as a seamstress and later was the Church secretary for Christ the King Catholic Church in Benton for many years. She had also worked for St. Columba Church in Bloomsburg.
Very active in her Church at Christ the King, she ran the Bloomsburg Fair Stand as well as the various fund raisers and events for the Church as well as carrying out the administrative duties.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed puzzles and gardening.
Surviving are her four children: Michelle M. Kotas and her husband, Richard, of Georgia; Kimberly D. Besel and her husband, David, of Georgia; Kevin Sabo and his wife, Sarah, of Indiana and Jonathan Sabo and his wife, Gina, of Texas. Also surviving are her fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters: Juanita Sandora, of Benton; Mary Fenstermacher and her husband, Burle, of Benton; Luisa Rodriguez, of San Juan, Puerto Rico; and a brother, Jaime Guadalupe and his wife, Nilda, of Greenville, SC, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and her husband, Nick, she was also preceded in death by siblings: Samuel Guadalupe, Carmen Pagan, Che Guadalupe, Modesto Guadalupe and Benito Guadalupe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 4, 2024 at 11 A. M. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 300 Mendenhall Lane, Benton, with Father Andrew St. Hilaire, as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Fishing Creek Township. Friends and Relatives will be received Monday from 10 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Fishing Creek Township, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Christ The King Catholic Church, P. O. Box 297, Benton, PA 17814.
