Larry R. Smith

Larry R. Smith, 77, of Stillwater and formerly of Benton, died early Sunday morning, December 16th, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born April 4, 1941 at the Bloomsburg Hospital, he was the son of the late Dale and Phyllis (Strauch) Smith. 

Larry was a 1959 graduate of Benton High School.  In his younger years, he worked as a bartender for Gordy Fink in Benton.  He later was employed by the L. Ray Appleman Elementary School in Benton and then for Bloomsburg University until his retirement in 2006.

He was a member of the Benton United Methodist Church.  Larry was well known for his jovial and infectious laugh.  He is survived by numerous cousins.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 10 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton with Pastor Matthew Verstraeten, officiating.  Burial will be in the Waller Cemetery, Jackson Township.  A Viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM at McMichael's.
