Leslie K. Hartman, 100, of Benton Township, died Wednesday morning, July 12th, 2023 at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital.
Born January 2, 1923 in Madison Township, Columbia County, he was a son of the late Norman K. and Maisie A. (Kitchen) Hartman.
Mr. Hartman attended the former Greenwood School and later Benton Schools.
He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army in World War II. He served in the Central Europe Campaign and was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, the EAME Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star; the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the Bronze Star Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Hartman was employed by Girton Manufacturing of Millville as a stainless steel welder from 1946 to 1986 when he retired. He had also farmed his Benton Township farm.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, gardening and farming.
Surviving are his two children: Cathy J. Hartman, of Benton and Randall W. "Randy" Hartman and his wife, Barbara, of Lakebay, Washington. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Ryan, Emalee, and Hayley; two step grandchildren: Travis and Derek and six great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Robbins; his companion, Dorothy Everitt; siblings: Eva Lowe, Ronald Hartman and Blaine Hartman.
Graveside services and Full Military Honors will be held Thursday, July 20th, 2023, at 11 A.M. at the Talmar Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Farley, Stillwater Christian Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
