Linda J. (Stackhouse) Janney, 70, of Benton, died Thursday morning, September 19, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born October 14, 1953 at the Bloomsburg Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Charles Thomas "Tom" Stackhouse, who died December 31, 2003 and Beverly J. (Miller) Stackhouse, who died September 16, 2011. Linda and her husband, David W. Janney, would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on December 16th.
Linda was a 1971 graduate of Benton High School. In her younger years, she had been employed by Dol-Ang Manufacturing in Benton; waitress at Jamison City Hotel and had also done baby-sitting for area families.
Years ago, she was a member of the North Mountain Volunteer Fire Company and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary; assisted with the Easter Egg project and volunteered at the Sugarloaf Fish Dinners. She was also a charter member and treasurer for the Sugarloaf Columbia County Historical Society. She was also an active volunteer for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Cancer Crusaders Team.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, David, are her two children: Diane K. Harmon and her husband, Kevin, of Cape Coral, Florida; Dennis L. Janney, of Benton; a grandson, Austin Crist, of Benton.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487). Pastor Matthew Verstraeten will officiate. A Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the Service at McMichael's. Burial will be in the Benton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to American Cancer Society-G66EJY, Team Cancer Crusaders, P. O. Box 862, Carnegie, PA 15106.
