Lois Jean (Miller) Barchik, 91, of Old Tioga Turnpike, Benton, (Cambra) passed peacefully Monday morning, August 11, 2025 at home, surrounded by her family, after a brief colon cancer diagnosis.
Born September 1, 1933 in Hunlock Creek, she was a daughter of the late William and Veldra (Cragle) Miller. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. Barchik, who passed away in February of 2018 with whom she enjoyed 64 years of marriage.
She met her husband at Columbia Park while he played accordion in a band. She lived in the same home for 70 years. She was a beautician at her own shop in Cambra. She was also a bus contractor for over 35 years at Northwest Schools.
Surviving are her five children: Norma Mazaika and her husband, Joe; Edward Barchik and his wife, Diana; Janice Hildebrand and her husband, Harold; Irene Schindler and her husband, Steve; William "Billy" Barchik. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews that were like her kids.
Along with her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Hildebrand in 2008; and her siblings, Audrie Gregory and Gary Miller.
She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. They were the light of her life.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S.R. 487). Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery, Hunlock Creek.
