Lois A. (Ansbach) Sterner, 98, of Bendertown, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Bonham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stillwater. Born in Rock Glen on February 19, 1925, she was a daughter to the late Russell and Eleanor (Naugle) Ansbach.
In 1942, Lois wed the love of her life, the late Melvin L. Sterner. Together, they raised their family and shared more than fifty years of marriage. She was employed by the Dockey Shirt Factory for a short time prior to assuming the role of a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed needlework and quilting, especially with her quilting club. Her greatest joy, however, was her family and time spent with them.
Surviving Lois are daughters: Nancy Hess of Orangeville and Deborah Geiger and husband, Steve, of SC; sons: Daniel Sterner and wife, Gayle, of Forks, Thomas Sterner and wife, Peggy, of Orangeville, James Sterner and wife, Patricia, of Benton, and Larry Sterner and wife, Judy, of IA; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; sister, Joann Comerford of VA; and brother, James Ansbach of AL.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin L. Sterner, who passed away January 20, 1993. She was also preceded in death by son, Douglas Sterner; brothers: Jack Ansbach, Rodney Ansbach, Harvey Ansbach, Wright Ansbach, and Sam Ansbach; and sister, Doris Knorr.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 27, 2023 at 11 AM at St. James UCC, 443 Zaners Bridge Road, Stillwater, PA 17878. Pastor Mark E. Rowell will officiate. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Lois’s name can be made to St. James UCC at the address above.
