Lorena L. Bennett, 76, residing in Benton, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 7, 1947, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to the late George and Nellie (Jones) Lawson. Lorena married her beloved husband, William J. “Bill” Bennett, Jr., on September 28, 1968, and they enjoyed 51 wonderful years together until his passing on December 19, 2019.
Lorena was a proud graduate of Linden High School in Linden, New Jersey, and she dedicated many years of service to Merck Research Labs in Rahway, NJ until her retirement in 2004.
A devout member of Bible Baptist Church in Benton, Lorena was actively involved in many ministries including teaching Sunday School and leading Ladies’ Bible Study groups.
Throughout her life, Lorena served on the Board of Directors of the North America Wales Foundation and held positions as past president and secretary of the Benton Women’s Club. She had a passion for genealogy and found joy in activities such as fishing and spending quality time with her cherished friends and family.
Lorena is survived by her loving children: Lorena N. Dolan and husband Robert Vidal of Ship Bottom, NJ; William J. Bennett, III and wife Beth of Freehold, NJ; and Brian S. Bennett and wife Jennifer of Manville, NJ. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and her sisters Linda Tanchak and Donna Ingram.
In addition to her parents, Lorena was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Bennett, Jr., and sister, Lora Lawson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 12 noon at Bible Baptist Church, located at 250 Shickshinny Road, Benton, with Pastor Paul Moseley, Sr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Pathways Pregnancy Resource Center, located at 480 Pierce Street, Suite 320, Kingston, PA 18704.
