Mabel A. (Rule) Fink, 97, longtime Shickshinny resident, died Saturday afternoon, December 12, 2020 at the Bonham Nursing Center.
Born January 25, 1923 in Shickshinny, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Lillie Mae (Noss) Rule. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert B. Fink on April 13, 1999.
Mrs. Fink was a 1942 graduate of the former Garrison High School in Shickshinny. She had been employed by Consolidated Cigar Corporation in Berwick for many years and prior to that by the Berwick AC&F.
She was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church of Shickshinny where she served as a trustee. She was also a member of the Bloomingdale Quilters Club and was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Her hobbies included quilting, gardening and tending her flowers. She especially enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's events.
Surviving are her two children: A. Sherman Fink and his wife, Kathleen (Yudiski), of Shickshinny and Pamela J. Zaremba and her husband, Thomas, of Hunlock Creek; five grandchildren: Christina, Deanna and Natalie Fink; Thomas John "TJ" Zaremba, Jr. and Cassandra Garber; her four great grandchildren: Lane and John Zaremba, Benjamin and Charleigh Garber. Also surviving are a sister, Elizabeth Bankes and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and her husband, Albert, she was preceded in death by the following siblings: Marie Zofcin, Mildred C. Smith, Lillie Sorber, Lorraine Harter, Robert Rule, Albert Rule and Richard Rule.
Private Graveside Services will be held at the convenience of the family due to the Coronoavirus pandemic. Burial will be in the Sorber Cemetery at Reyburn. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date when conditions are safe. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Hunlock Creek United Methodist Church or the United Presbyterian Church of Shickshinny.
