Marguerite (Fritz) Schupp

Marguerite (Fritz) Schupp, 88, of Benton, passed away Monday afternoon, June 12, 2023 at the Bonham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Stillwater.

Born September 19, 1934 in Jackson Township, she was a daughter of the late Woodrow J. Fritz, who died March 30, 1998 and Alice (Butler) Fritz, who died Jun 16, 1987.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, John L. "Jack" Schupp, Jr. on August 20, 2001.

Marguerite was a 1952 graduate of Benton High School.  She worked at Joe Dalto's Restaurant in Benton and U. S. Radium in  Bloomsburg, before devoting  her time to being a wife and mother.  While focusing  on her family she sold Dutchmaid Clothing. Later, she worked at Gift of Garb, Benton.

Marguerite was a Senior Girl Scout Leader and helped with the Cub Scouts.  She had a love of flowers and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.  She belonged  to local card clubs and attended high school sporting events, especially wrestling and soccer.  She was also an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.

She was a member of the Benton United Methodist Church and assisted with social events.  She served on the Council of Churches and was treasurer for Bible School for several years.

Marguerite and her sister, Beverly, enjoyed many shopping excursions and going out for lunch.  She also enjoyed going to Bloomsburg Theater Ensemble and Dinner Theaters.

A special memory of Marguerite's was when she and her husband Jack took a road trip through the southwest U.S.  Other favorites were taking the family to the 1964 World Fair in NY and many times to Niagara Falls in New York. 

She also loved to entertain family and friends at their time share at Beach Mountain Resort.

Marguerite was one of the first women in the area to obtain a motorcycle license and rode often.  She loved her Honda!

Surviving her son, John L. "Jack" Schupp, IV and his wife, Audrey, of Benton; a daughter, Susan M. Adams, of Benton; 4 grandchildren:  Darcy and Shawna Steinruck and Travis and Brandon Schupp; five great grandchildren:  Cody, Bailey, Reef, Lyla and Mako.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers:  Jesse E. Fritz, on June 14, 2018 and William Fritz, on December 5, 2001 and by a sister, Beverly J. Smith, on July 1, 2021.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 22nd, 2023 at 10 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton, with Pastor Caleb Fritz, officiating.  Burial  will be in the Waller Cemetery, Jackson Township.  A Viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 PM at McMichael's and also Thursday morning from 9 AM until the time of the Service at 10.    In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Benton United Methodist Church.
