Mark C. Halat, 68, of Waterton Road, Shickshinny, died Tuesday, July 14th, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville where he had been a patient for the past six days. He had been in declining health for several years.
Born July 28, 1951 at the Nanticoke Hospital, he was a son of Iris Elizabeth (Good) Halat, of North Lauderdale, Florida and the late Eugene Robert Halat, who died in 1998. He and his wife, Katherine Ann (Dobbs) Halat, would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on December 7th.
Mark attended Huntington Mills Elementary School, Northwest Area High School and was among the first of the graduating class of West Side Tech in Pringle 1969.
He had been employed by Consolidated Cigar Corp. in Berwick, Magee Carpet Company in Bloomsburg and had last worked for Air Products in Wilkes-Barre for more than 30 years, until his retirement.
Mark was an active member of the Huntington Mills Church of Christ where he served as the song leader.
He was on the board and served as a trustee of Scott Cemetery and was a longtime member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union. An avid outdoorsman, his hobbies included hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Surviving, in addition to his mother and wife, are his children: Jodie Lee (Halat) Moss and her husband, Randy, of Benton; Timothy James Halat and his wife, Shelby, of Pottsville; Kyle Matthew Halat, of Huntington Mills; three grandsons: Daniel Allen Moss, of New York City, NY; Evan Michael Halat and Jack Ezra Halat, both of Pottsville; two sisters: JoAnn Elizabeth (Halat) Robbins and her husband, Harry, of Berwick; Lois Mae (Halat) Paisley and her husband, Scott, of North Lauderdale, Florida; and a brother, Matthew Eugene Halat and his wife, Kathy, of Byron, Georgia.
Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a son, James Robert Halat, on May 22, 1979.
