Marvin Ellsworth Albertson,
80, formerly of Winding Road, Orangeville, died Friday afternoon, June 11th,
2021 at Bloomsburg Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Born August 31, 1940 in Bloomsburg,
he was a son of the late Arthur and Ethel Wanda (Kishbaugh) Albertson. He
married his high school sweetheart, Devona Grace Hittle at Zion U. C. C. of
Orangeville, the daughter of the late Alfred and Carmen (Keller) Hittle. They proudly celebrated their 62nd wedding
anniversary on April 25th, 2021.
He worked for Magee Reiter
Automotive for 42 years, with 24 years of those years as Extrusion Dept.
Supervisor. He, also, worked alongside
his wife, Devona, with Stanley Home Products/Fuller Brush for 16 years.
He was a faithful member of
Zion United Church of Christ for many years.
He served as a Deacon, a lay minister, and an Adult Sunday School teacher
for over 30 years.
His greatest achievement
was attending the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He was a Scout Master in the Boy Scouts of
America for 7 years.
Marvin was an avid
outdoorsman and enjoyed reading, music and playing bingo.
He is survived by his
loving wife, Devona, and his six children and their spouses: Steven E. Albertson and his wife, Connie, of
Stillwater; Minette C. Meyer and her
husband, Kenneth, of Berwick; Randy T.
Albertson and his wife, Janice, of Orangeville; Terri E. Bartmess and her
husband, Aaron, of Bristol, Tennessee; Holly M. Wilkinson and her husband,
Raymond, of Quakertown; Sheila K. Shepherd and her husband, James, of Hazleton;
13 grandchildren; 7 great
grandchildren; a brother, Byron M. Albertson and his wife, Donna, of Benton,
Kentucky; and a sister, Marilyn M. Shields and her husband, Edward, of
Lewistown, PA.
For many years, Marvin and Devona were also caretakers for
Mary Ann Derricott, Julie Slusser and Randy James Albertson.
Along with his parents, he
was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce L. Boston.
A heartfelt word of thanks
to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Geisinger- Bloomsburg Hospital ER,
Geisinger Medical Center, Bloomsburg Care and Rehab. Center, and Commonwealth
Hospice for their compassionate care of Marvin and his family.
Funeral Services will be
held Wednesday, June 16th, 2021 at 10 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394
Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487) with his son-in-law, Pastor Aaron
Bartmess and Pastor Mark Rowell, his
Pastor, officiating. Burial will
be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Viewing, Tuesday, from 4 to 7 PM at
McMichael's in Benton. In lieu of
flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Zion United Church of
