Mary Ruth (Cole) Krygier, 72, of Sugarloaf Township, died Tuesday, April 25th, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born June 27, 1950 at the Bloomsburg Hospital, she was a daughter of the late Leonard F. and Martha (Fritz) Cole. She was also preceded in death by her husband, of 18 years, Thomas J. "Tom" Krygier, who went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2006.
Mary Ruth was a 1968 graduate of Benton High School. She was employed at the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation in Wilkes-Barre from June 1968 to September 1968 and then transferred to Bloomsburg State College where she worked until June 1990, when she retired.
She also started a catering business in August 1996 at the Sullivan County Fair, which she operated until June 2006.
Mary Ruth was very active in her church, the Waller United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a past treasurer of the United Methodist Women; served on the Administrative Board of the Church, was a trustee, choir member, youth group leader, member of the worship committee and the SPPRC. She was also the worship opener and served on the Lay Leadership Committee and the Audit Committee. She was Secretary of the Benton / Waller United Methodist Charge as well as Secretary for the Columbia Circuit United Methodist Charge for many years. She had also served as a local 4-H Leader.
She enjoyed crafts, embroidery, quilting, ceramics, gospel music and baking pies. She also enjoyed her flowers, especially dahlias and pansies, as well as watching wildlife.
Surviving, are her daughter, Mariah C. Krygier, of Bloomsburg; two brothers: Edward Cole, Sr. and his wife, Susan, of Benton; and David Cole and his wife, Julie, as well as nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her faithful friend, David E. Brown, of Benton.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 1st, 2023 at 11 AM at the Waller United Methodist Church with Rev. Tyler Rauhauser, her Pastor, officiating. A Viewing will be held Monday from 9 AM until the time of the Service at 11 at the Church. Burial will be in the Waller Cemetery, Jackson Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Waller United Methodist Church.
