Mary Lou (George) Conner

Mary Lou (George) Conner, 88, of Orangeville, died early Saturday morning, November 25th, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born April 27, 1935 at the Bloomsburg Hospital, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd E. and Margaret Beryl (Mordan) George.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Haurice J. Conner, and by a daughter, Alice Beryl Conner.

Mrs. Conner attended the former McHenry Hill School and then graduated from Scott High School in 1953.

She was a member of the Orangeville United Church.  In her younger years, she was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader in Orangeville.  She was also a member of the Orangeville Civic Club; the Pinochle Club and the Orangeville Women's Guild.

Mrs. Conner was also known for her raisin-filled cookies which she made for the Orangeville Bake Stand.  She operated Bowman's French Fry Stand at the Bloomsburg Fair and at area carnivals for many years.  She also enjoyed numerous family camping outings over the years.

Surviving are her three children: Ruth Ann Strauser and her husband, David, of Orangeville; James P. Conner and his wife, Betty, of Benton; Stella J. Longenberger and her husband, Harvey, Jr., of Berwick; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  Also surviving is a sister, Ruth Ann Taggart, of Espy.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 29th, 2023 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton with Rev. Mark E. Rowell and Rev. Nancy Light Hardy, officiating.  A Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the Service at 11 at  McMichael's.  Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Orangeville United Church, P.  O. Box  196, Orangeville PA 17859.
