Maurice W. "Bill" Bedient, Jr., 54, of Huntington Township died Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at his home.
Born in Corning, New York, on Dec. 26, 1969, he was a son to the late Maurice W. Bedient Sr. and Fran Hughey.
Bill attended Berwick Area schools and proudly served in the United States Navy. On Dec. 9, 2006, he wed the former Kristina Bogert, with whom he would share 17 years of marriage. Bill was a longtime employee of Pretium Packaging in Hazleton, and had been made maintenance manager shortly before his illness. He was a life member of Benton VFW Post 8317 and a member of Shickshinny American Legion Post 495. Bill loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandson.
Surviving Bill are his loving wife, Kristina "Kris" (Bogert) Bedient; children: Nicole Bedient of Berwick, Cyndal Dell and husband, Michael, of Bloomsburg, Larry Bedient of Berwick, Logan of Berwick, and Maice Bedient and wife, Kaitlyn, of Pottsville; grandson, Michael Dell Jr.; sister, Kelly Yaple, and husband, Russell, of Shickshinny; and a large extended family.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother; and nephews: Michael Yaple and Blake Bogert.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 1 p.m. at McMichael Funeral Home Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487). Pastor Scott Lyons will officiate. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of military honors at 1 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bill's family to help defray funeral costs.
