Michael J. "Mick" Sharkuski, Sr.

Michael J. "Mick" Sharkuski, Sr.,  79, of Benton Township, died Wednesday evening, January 19, 2022 at his home.

Born October 1, 1942 at the Nanticoke Hospital, he was a son of the late    John and Josephine (Decowski) Sharkuski.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo (Balazs) Sharkuski, on May 18, 1989.

Mick was a 1960 graduate of Northwest Area High School and then faithfully served in the U. S. Army for four years.

He was employed by Wise Foods, Inc., of Berwick for 42 years, retiring in 2008.

Mick had been a member of the former Shickshinny Assembly of God Church.

His hobbies included hunting and gardening.  He also enjoyed spending time at Knoebels but most of all, he enjoyed being surrounded by his family.

Surviving are his three children:   Patricia L. Evans and her husband, Jonathan L., of Cambra; Michael J. Sharkuski, Jr., and his wife, Sharon, of Danielsville, PA: Karen S. Hawkins and her husband, Kevin, of Easley, South Carolina; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren as well as a sister, Marsha Renninger and her husband, William, of Shickshinny. 

Along with his parents and wife, Mary Jo, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia, in infancy.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral  Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487) with Pastor Robert K.
