N. LaRue Knorr, 80, of North Centre Township, died Saturday evening, May 11, 2024 at Emmanuel Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Sunset Lane, Danville, surrounded by his loving family. Upon his diagnosis, LaRue said: "I've got my ticket; I know where I'm going; All I have to do is wait for God to punch my ticket and say hop on board". God's train has finally come and his ticket was punched and he has gained his wings.
Born June 15, 1943 in Bloomsburg, he was a son of the late Paul H. and Thelma (Young) Knorr. He and his wife, Jane L. (Linn) Knorr, would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this November 22nd.
LaRue graduated from Central Columbia High School in 1961 and was president of his graduating class. Central Columbia's Alma Mater was written and composed in his parents living room. He also attended Albright College following his high school graduation.
He and his wife, Jane, had formerly lived in Maple Grove, near Benton, for a few years.
He was employed by PPL as lineman for 23 years and later as a supervisor. He retired in 2004 after 38 years of service.
LaRue was a longtime, active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Berwick, where he served as a lay speaker and was a member of the choir.
He was also a member of the local Barbershoppers, the Bicentennial Choir and he loved Karaoke.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He was an avid horseman, raising and training horses and dogs. He also enjoyed motorcycle riding and traveling and had a great love for his Studebakers and Jaguars.
In his younger years, he coached Little League and Midget Football. He had been active with the Boy Scouts and made a trip to Philmont and was awarded the God and Country Award.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Jane, are his two children: Drena A. Knorr, at home; Dirk N. Knorr and his wife, Michelle, of Berwick; four granddaughters: Reece, Alexis, Reagan and Alli; two brothers: Larry P. Knorr and his wife, Sylvia, of Millville and Charles H. "Chuck" Knorr, of Berwick as well as nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held Sunday, May 19th, 2024 from 1 to 4 PM at McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Compassus Hospice, 575 Montour Blvd., Suite 1, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
