Nancy A (Coombs) Creveling

Nancy A. (Coombs) Creveling, 89 of Stillwater, (Fishing Creek Township), died Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.   

Born March 12, 1935 in West Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Caleb and Anna (Welliver) Smith Coombs.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Zane R. Creveling, on October 13, 2009.  

Nancy was a 1953 graduate of Huntington Township High School and a 1956 graduate of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing.

She had been employed by Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Retreat State Hospital and Bonham Nursing Center, where she retired from after 20 years of service.

Nancy was a member of St. James United Church of Christ; the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Alumni Association, the Benton Senior Center and had served on the St. James Cemetery Association Board where she was Secretary for many years.  

She enjoyed spending time with her family, researching genealogy, socializing, country-western music and traveling.  In her younger years, she also enjoyed square dancing, roller skating and bicycling.    

Surviving are her daughter, Jean E. MacDermott and her husband, David, of Stillwater; two grandsons:  Keith E. MacDermott, of Stillwater and Cody J. Creveling, of Riverside.  Also surviving are her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Creveling, of Riverside as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband Zane, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey A. Creveling on October 2, 2020 and by brothers:  George and Donald Coombs; William and Robert Smith; sisters:  Betty Niven and Jane Bingaman.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 23, 2024 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton, (Rt. 487) with the Rev. Mark Rowell, her Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Fishing Creek Township. 

A viewing will be held Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of the Service   at 11 at McMichael's.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to an organization of the donor's choice.
