Nancy Roberts DePoe, 64, of Benton Township, died Tuesday evening, December 3, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, following a lengthy illness.
Born March 22, 1960 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she was a daughter of the late Evans Roberts, Jr. and JoEdna (Peabody) Roberts. She and her husband, Fred M. DePoe, Jr., celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on
June 3rd.
Nancy was a 1978 high honors graduate of University High School in Baton Rouge, LA. She later earned her B. S. degree from Northwestern State University in Louisiana where she was Summa Cum Laude; and then her M.B.A. and M.S. in management from LSU. She later worked on her doctorate degree for two years in International Business from the University of South Carolina. She also earned her Masters of Divinity degree from Drew Theological Seminary in Madison, New Jersey, where she was also Summa Cum Laude.
She had been employed by CEDA-COG in Lewisburg; served as a Methodist Pastor in Clinton, Maine and more recently had worked as a business financial researcher for Thomson Reuters, Ft. Worth, Texas. She also enjoyed the opportunity to serve an internship in Belgium for the 3-M Company and taught business for a year in Toyama, Japan.
Nancy had a great love for travel and had visited England, Russia, Ireland, France, Wales, Israel, Honduras, Canada, Mexico and numerous other countries that left a lasting impression on her. She especially enjoyed "southern cooking", utilizing the many family recipes tied to her Southern roots.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, Fred, are her children: Megan Burt and her husband, Patrick, of Benton; Chelsea DePoe and her fiancé, David Yoder, of Newville, PA; Tyson DePoe and his wife, Tiffany, of Benton; Isaac DePoe and his wife, Jen, of Smyrna, Delaware; Tricia Purcell and her wife, Ashley, of Ardmore, PA; nine grandchildren; two sisters: Renee Gassen and her husband, Michael, of Baton Rouge, LA; Jodi Gianfala and her husband, Todd, of Baton Rouge, LA; a brother, Dr. Evans Roberts, III, and his wife, Erika, of Metairie, LA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Roberts, in 2017.
Private Services will be held at the convenience of the Family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St Jude's Children's Hospital, 501St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
