Nancy Louise (Scott) McClure, 90, of rural Benton (Sugarloaf Township), passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, with her daughters by her side.
Born May 13, 1935 in Berwick, she was the daughter of the late Edgar G. and Catherine (Gearhart) Scott. She married Harry L. McClure on June 2, 1955. They celebrated 55 years of marriage, until his passing on September 27, 2010.
Nancy was a 1953 graduate of Shickshinny High School. She attended Syracuse University and then graduated from Bloomsburg State College, now Bloomsburg University. While attending Syracuse University, she met many sorority friends whom she still kept in touch with.
She was a dedicated teacher who taught and retired from the Berwick School System in 1996. She loved teaching and many of her students remembered her as a teacher they admired.
After retirement, she volunteered as a second grade teacher assistant in the Benton School System.
Nancy was a member of Benton Christian Church and the Christian Women's Group.
She, along with her husband and family spent many summers at Shickshinny Island in Canada. They also enjoyed many vacations and cruises.
Nancy was an avid reader, enjoyed doing puzzles, spending time in her swimming pool and cruising with college classmates. She especially cherished the time that she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving, are her four daughters: Katherine "Kim" Keller and her husband, David, of Benton; Tamara "Tammy" Dluzeski and her husband, Raymond Jr., of Stillwater; Nancy "Nan" McClure-Shaknitz, of Coplay, PA; Allison Cross, of Benton; 7 grandchildren: Lindsey, Matthew, Michael, Allen, Nick, Katie and Andrew and 8 great grandchildren, whom she adored.
Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her only brother Edgar Gary Scott, who passed on September 9, 2022.
Friends and Family will be received at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Road, Benton, (State Route 487) on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 9 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11 AM. The Rev. Dr. David Mansfield and Rev. Ken Lewis, will officiate. There will be a private burial for the family.
