Naomi I. (Roberts) Kinney, 89, of rural Orangeville (Asbury) died Tuesday morning, May 12, 2020 at Nottingham Village, Northumberland where she had been a resident for the past week.
Born April 10, 1931 in Stillwater, she was a daughter of the late Earnest Leroy and Anna Margaret (Taylor) Roberts. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arnold C. Kinney, of 59 years, on October 16, 2012.
Mrs. Kinney was a 1949 graduate of Benton High School and had been employed by the Magee Carpet Company in Bloomsburg. Later in her life she worked in food service at Danville State Hospital and at Retreat.
She was a longtime member of the former Asbury United Methodist Church and after the church closed, joined the Jonestown United Methodist Church where she assisted with the church dinners and hoagie sales.
Mrs. Kinney was a member of a homemaker's group that made quilts to donate to charity. She was a member of the Benton Senior Citizens Center and the NCCCC where she volunteered. She enjoyed being a homemaker, knitting, reading, and sending out cards and notes of encouragement to people.
Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn S. Diehl and her husband, Rev. David H. Diehl, of Senoia, GA; two grandchildren: Krista Heim and her husband, Jason, of Peachtree City, GA; Ryan Hippenstiel and his wife, Mandy, of Chesapeake, VA; five great grandchildren: Carter, Brogan, and Karis Heim and Lily and Anna Hippenstiel; a brother, Allen J. Roberts and his wife, Shirley, of Montrose, CO. She will also be greatly missed by her nieces, Marsha Boston, Angie Bowman, Paula Shannon and Valorie Munro and nephew, Gary Roberts.
Along with her parents and her husband, Arnold, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Earnest L. Roberts, Jr. and David Roberts.
Private Services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in St. James Cemetery, Fishing Creek Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Jonestown United Methodist Church, c/o Denise Hack, 412 Paperdale Road, Stillwater, PA 17878.
