Obituary

Philmore J. "Phil" Arner, 94, of Mifflin Township, died early Friday morning, October 28th, 2022 at his home.

Born October 14, 1928 in Conyngham, Luzerne County, he was a son of the late Howard and Emma (Brown) Arner.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Joyce E. (Mowery) Arner, on May 6th, 2015.

Mr. Arner had been a long-time employee of U. S. Radium in Bloomsburg where he worked for 46 years.  In his younger years, he was employed by Catawissa Lumber.

He was an active member of the Berwick Bible Church where he served as an Elder for many years.  He was also a member of the Bloomsburg Archery Club, the Mifflinville Fire Company and the Berwick YMCA.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, mow grass, and walk.  He also enjoyed traveling, reading, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.   

Surviving, are his two children:  Nancy Cornell and her husband, Allen, of Mt. Pleasant Township; James A. "Jim" Arner and his wife, Kathy, of Millville; five grandchildren:  Todd, Tina, Terry, Jeremy and Lori; eight great grandchildren:  Olivia, Sophia, Mitchell, Haylee, Mikayla, Abigael, Madison and Justin.   Also surviving is a half brother, Tim Arner, of Tennessee.

In addition to his parents and wife, Joyce, he was preceded in death by

two brothers:  Sterling "Bud" Arner and Bob Arner and by a sister, Audrey Davidson.

Services will be held Wednesday, November 9th, 2022 at 11 AM at the Berwick Bible Church, 1426 Spring Garden Avenue, Berwick, with the Rev. Brad Iverson, his pastor, officiating.  A Visitation will be held Wednesday, the 9th from 10 AM until the time of the Service at the Church.   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Berwick Bible Church, 1426 Spring Garden Avenue, Berwick, PA 18603.
