Richard R. Kocher, 73, of Fishing Creek Township, died Thursday evening, June 23, 2022, at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital.
Born July 14, 1948 at the Bloomsburg Hospital, he was a son of the late Donald E. "Tuddy" Kocher, who died August 8, 2008 and Mary K. (Thomas) Kocher, who died Nov. 11, 2019.
Mr. Kocher was a 1966 graduate of Central Columbia High School, and then earned his Associates Degree in Engineering in 1969 from Penn State University. He later was awarded his Bachelor's degree from Penn State in building construction in 1975. He was employed by St. John's Masonry, Lock Haven, PA and prior to that worked for his father's company, Donald E. Kocher, Inc.
He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War in 1970-1971 and was in the 173rd Airborne Brigade.
Mr. Kocher was a member of the Millville American Legion. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and was known for taking care of his land. He especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Marie.
Surviving are his daughter, Miranda L. Kocher, of North Andover, Massachusetts; his granddaughter, Marie L. Kocher, of Dorchester, Massachusetts; a son, Matthew Sanders, of Gretna, Louisiana. Also surviving are his siblings: Twin brother, Ronald W. Kocher and his wife, Liz, of Orangeville; Cynthia L. Levan, of Bloomsburg; Jill Kocher, of Catawissa and loving aunts, uncles and cousins throughout Columbia County.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 29th, 2022 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487) with Pastor Scott Lyons, Stillwater Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge with full military honors. A Viewing will be held Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 at McMichael's in Benton.
