Richard Wenner Obituary

Richard D. "Dick" Wenner, 86, of Fishing Creek Township, died unexpectedly on Friday morning, November 16, 2018 at his home.

Born May 11, 1932 in Fishing Creek Township, he was a son of the late Fred and Ida (Polk) Wenner.  He and his wife, Ruth E. (Rhinard) Wenner, celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on April 15th.

Mr. Wenner attended the Crossroads School, the Bendertown School and Benton High School.  He worked as a farmer and drove school bus for the Benton Area School District for nearly 40 years.  Following his retirement from farming he worked for the former Heinz Pet Products and Wodrig's Nursery. 

He was a member of St. James United Church of Christ where he had served on the Consistory and was President of the Consistory for several terms.  He had also served on the Orangeville Charge of United Church of Christ Consistory where he had also served as President for several terms.  He was a member of the former Bendertown Grange and was active with the 4-H Program years ago.  He served as a Fishing Creek Township Supervisor and was the District President for the former Interstate Milk Producers.

Mr. Wenner loved to travel and was always "ready to go".  He enjoyed bus trips and had visited many of the states in the United States including Hawaii and Alaska.  He also enjoyed family fishing trips to Canada.

He was a shareholder of the Bloomsburg Fair Association and loved attending the Fair, sometimes going two or three times a day.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Ruth, are his four children:  Kay E. Wenner and Nancy L. Bailey, both of rural Stillwater; Roxanne Boudman and her husband, Tony, of Hughesville; Ricky D. Wenner, of Narvon, PA; five grandchildren:  Jeannette Lentz and her husband, Mark, of East Liverpool, Ohio; Kimberly Rindal and her husband, Angus, of Musselshell, Montana; Torre Boudman and his wife, Kelli, of Stillwater; Risa Rosario and her husband, Bob, of Muncy and Sheyenne Wenner, of Narvon, PA; six great grandchildren:  Adam Rosario, Rebekah Rosario, Kara Boudman, Ashleigh Boudman, Koye Rindal and Keegan Rindal.  Also surviving are  step grandchildren:  Mark Lentz, Kendall Lentz and Haley Olson and a sister-in-law, Frances Wenner, of Bendertown.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Morris Wenner on March 19, 1955; a grandson, Travis Boudman on October 26, 1975; a son-in-law, Wayne G. Bailey, on June 28, 2009; a brother, Robert G. Wenner, on Sept. 9, 2014 and a daughter-in-law, Dee Wenner, on October 17th, 2018.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 23, 2018 at 11 A. M. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487) with the Rev. Darwin Goshorn, a family friend, officiating.  Burial will be in the St. James Cemetery, Fishing Creek Township.  A Viewing will be held Friday from 10 AM until the time of the Service at 11:00 at McMichael's.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Columbia County Christian School Capital Campaign Fund, 123 Schoolhouse Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
