Richard "Dick" Yule Obituary

Richard G. Yule, affectionately known as Dick, passed peacefully in his Berwick home on April 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was rooted in family, faith, and the land he cherished.

Dick was born in Ilion, NY in 1941 to the late Robert Yule and Dorothy Edgett Hoke. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Yule and son-in-law, Randy Barrette. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, half-brother, Larry (Margo), children Debbie (Ted) Holk, Dave (Sandie) Yule, Dottie Barrette, Diana (Keith) Cariani, Dan (Jamie) Yule, Daphne (Jeremy) Bialecki, and Darlene (Ilene) Yule, 28 grandchildren including their significant others, and 22 great grandchildren.

Dick was married to the love of his life for 66 years, a partnership built on deep affection, shared values, and unwavering commitment. Together they raised seven children and created a family that was always the center of their world. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, whose lives brought him endless joy.

An accomplished and award‑winning dairy farmer, Dick was respected internationally for his skill as a breeder of Holstein cows. His love of farming was more than a career—it was a calling. He took considerable pride in his work and left a lasting mark on the dairy community through decades of stewardship, innovation, and integrity. In the 1990s, Dick and Virginia converted Yule’s Pride Farm from dairy into an organic compost and greenhouse business, which is how they met so many of their friends.

Known for his quick wit and warm smile, Dick was always ready with a joke and never tired of telling—and listening to—stories from the past. His sense of humor, strong work ethic, and appreciation for tradition endeared him to friends, family, and neighbors alike.

More than anything else, Dick treasured his family. His greatest accomplishments were not measured by awards or recognition, but by the lives he touched and the values he passed on. His presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A memorial service celebrating Dick's life will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton, PA 17814. A visitation will precede the service beginning at 10 a.m. where the family will receive friends and loved ones.
