Richard "Rich" Evans Obituary

Richard G. Evans, 67, of  Benton  Township, died Thursday morning, December 25, 2025 to be with Jesus on His birthday, at his home following a lengthy illness.

Born September 29, 1958 at Bloomsburg Hospital he was a son of the late Henry Evans, who died October 20, 2000 and Pearl A. (McHenry) Evans on September 13, 1987.  He and his wife, Darlene  (Hampton) Evans celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on July 2nd.

Richard was a graduate of Benton High School and then faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army National Guard for 22 years.  He was employed by Data Com, where he met his wife, and then Berwick Offray where he was employed for more than 30 years. He retired in 2018.

He was a member of the Berwick Salvation Army, the Shickshinny American Legion and the Benton V. F. W. 

Richard's hobbies included hunting and he loved muzzle loading season; spending time at the cabin, and doing word search puzzles, but he especially cherished spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Darlene, are his two sons:  Thomas G. Evans and his wife, Suzette, of New York and Raymond C. Evans and his wife, Alana, of Shickshinny; six grandchildren:  Emmitt, Brayden, Ethan, Skylar, Kinley and Rourke; his siblings:  Jean Bogert and her husband, Ernie, of Stillwater; Janet Stauffer, of Benton; Carl Evans, of Muncy; Edward Evans of Benton; Cindy Henderson and her husband, Richard, of Stillwater, Sandy Schamburger and her husband, William  of Berwick and Penny Evans, of Bloomsburg as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kaliese; siblings:  Jim Kile, Carol Evans, Grace Martinez and Barbara Weaver; sisters-in-law, Daff Evans and Barbara Evans.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 11 A. M. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton. Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park with Military Honors.   A Viewing will be held Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of the Service at 11 at the Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Richard's memory to the Berwick Salvation Army, 320 West Second Street, Berwick, PA 18603 or to the Shickshinny American Legion, Post #495, 575 S. R. 239, Shickshinny, PA  18655.
