Robert E. "Bob" Bogart, of Bloomsburg (Scott Township), and formerly of Stillwater, died early Wednesday morning, August 13, 2025 at his Scott Township home with his wife, Joan, by his side, holding his hand.
Born December 21, 1950 in Bloomsburg, he was a son of the late Raymond Roland "Dutch" Bogart, who died on May 11, 1974 and Eulalia H. (Sutliff) Bogart, on August 14, 2013. He and his wife and best friend, Joan M. (Hess) Bogart, had been together since 1979 and celebrated their 22nd anniversary on February 14th.
Bob was a 1968 graduate of Benton High School. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U. S. Army in the Vietnam War from January 30, 1970 to January 23, 1973. Highly decorated, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 60, the Army Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Expert Hand Grenade, Marksman M-16 and the Bronze Star Medal.
He was a longtime employee of Bloomsburg Carpet Company where he retired in 2016 after 38 years of service. Earlier in his work career, he had been employed by DANA of Berwick.
Bob was a former member of the Benton V. F. W. He was an avid outdoorsman and his hobbies including motorcycle riding and cutting wood.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Joan, are his siblings: Shirley Roberts, of Montrose, CO; Donald Bogart, of Annville; Louise Rhinard and her husband, Glen, of Jonestown; David Bogart, of Berwick; Rodney Bogart and his wife, Sharon, of Stillwater and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Allan Roberts and by a sister-in-law, Deb Bogart.
The Family would like to thank the Traditional Home Healthcare aides and Geisinger Hospice for the wonderful care they provided for Bob.
Private Services and Military Honors will be held at the convenience of the family at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., Benton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to a Veterans organization of the donor's choice.
