Robert F. “Bob” Conner

Robert F. "Bob" Conner, 83, of Benton, died Thursday afternoon, November 25, 2021 at Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.  He had previously been a resident at Brookdale, Bloomsburg. 

Born May 13, 1938 in Central, Sugarloaf Township, he was a son of the late John T. and Clara A. (Campbell) Conner.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Iva Mae (Spencer) Conner, on January 13th, 2009. He married Edith Helen Stackhouse in 2014. 

Bob was a 1956 graduate of Benton High School.  He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army and later in the U. S. Air Force Reserves.

In his younger years, Bob worked in the home heating and fuel business and was manager for Home Heating Oil in Berwick and had also worked for Carlos Lefler where he was a sales consultant for Lefler Oil.  He was also co-owner of Conner Excavating and co-owner of the Buckhorn Truck Stop and Vice President of Interstate Travel Service.  He also served as a Benton Township Supervisor for several years.

He was a member of the Stillwater Christian Church and also attended Lungerville Christian Church and Christ United Methodist Church.  He was a member of the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge and the Chimney Stack Rod and Gun Club.

Bob was an avid golfer and his other hobbies included race horses and playing cards.

Surviving, are his son, Robert F. “Rob” Conner II; 2 grandchildren:  Michael and Brenna Conner, all of Benton; two brothers:  John H. Conner and his wife, Shirley, of Idaho and Thomas H. Conner, of Benton as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 1st, 2021 at 11:00 A. M. at the Stillwater Christian Church, 39 McMichael Street, Stillwater.  A Viewing will be held Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the Church.  Burial will be will be in the Stillwater Cemetery with Military Honors.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Benton Area High School Athletic Program, 600 Green Acres Road, Benton, PA 17814.  The McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., Benton is honored to serve the Conner Family.
