Robert E. "Pinky" Lee

February 11, 1953 ~ December 7, 2020 (age 67)


Robert E. "Pinky" Lee,  67, of Benton Township died unexpectedly on Monday evening, December 7, 2020.

Born February 11, 1953 in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Warren and Marie (Braden) Lee. He and his wife, Carla J. (Getz) Lee, celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on April 27th.

Mr. Lee was a 1971 graduate of Stroudsburg High School.  In his earlier years he worked in construction and then was employed by Consolidated Freight for 24 years as a union teamster.  He later worked for the Benton Area School District until he retired in 2015.

He had attended Stillwater Christian Church and was a member of the Benton V. F. W. Auxiliary and was a union teamster member for 25 years.

An  avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing.  He had received numerous awards for fish that he had caught and also awards from the State of Maine where he made their state records for two bucks that he harvested.  He was named sportsman of the year by Tom Austin for mentoring youngsters in hunting and fishing.  He hosted numerous fishing derbies for kids and local churches over the years.  He also enjoyed collecting scrap metal but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his two grandsons.

Surviving are his wife, Carla J. (Getz) Lee, of 35 years; a daughter, Brooke Gordner and her husband, Joshua, of Watsontown; a son, Cory S. Lee and his wife Kayla, of Benton; two grandsons: Warren and Wyatt Lee; a brother, Larry Lee and his wife, Jeffra, of Bangor; a sister, Kathleen Miller and her husband, Richard, of Saylorsburg; a brother-in-law, Edward Wagner, of Nazareth and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Wagner.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Fishing Creek Sportsmen Association, P. O. Box 331, Benton, PA 17814.
