Robert "Bob" Kalie Obituary

Robert J. "Bob" Kalie, 91, of rural Orangeville (Fishing Creek Township), died Saturday afternoon, July 12, 2025 at his home.

Born June 22, 1934 on Sunshine Road, Shickshinny, he was a son of the late John A. and Margaret M. (Miazga) Kalie. 

Bob was a 1953 graduate of Huntington Mills High School.   He had been employed by Clair Hock Construction and later HRI until his retirement in 1993.  He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for more than 60 years.  With his strong work ethic he had also spent most of his life working his Fishing Creek Township farm. 

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U. S. Army from 1956 to 1958. 

Bob was a founding and faithful member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Benton. 

He had also served as a Fishing Creek Township Supervisor.

An avid outdoorsman, he was especially known for his deer hunting.  He was also a loyal Philadelphia Phillies fan.

Surviving, are his wife, Margaret L. "Peg" (Kremer) Boyer Kalie, whom he married on October 3, 1992; his children:  Robert Dean Kalie, of Orangeville; Melissa "Missy" Fox and her husband, David, of Dushore; Christopher Michael Kalie and his wife, Cally, of  Orangeville; a grandson, Adam Kalie; five step children:  Paul Boyer and his wife, Elizabeth, of Gaithersburg, MD; Clair Boyer and his wife, Jane, of Laurens, SC; Warren Boyer and his wife, Kate, of Brunswick, GA; Barbara McLeod and her husband, Tony, of NC; Bonnie Pender and her husband, Marvin, of Woodbridge, VA; eight step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Mazonkey, of Shickshinny; two brothers: Bernard Kalie and his wife, Carolyn, of Shickshinny; Andrew J. Kalie, Sr. and his wife, Rose, of Shickshinny; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Deanna (Crebs) Kalie, on August 24, 1990; a daughter, Brenda E. Kalie on December 20, 2009;  his siblings:  Joseph Kalie, Mary Chapautat, Eleanor Czoyer, Alexander Kalie, John Kalie, and Delores Lukashefski.

A Mass of Christian Burial  will be celebrated Friday, July 18, 2025 at 10 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church, 300 Mendenhall Lane, Benton, with Father Richard J. Mowery, as Celebrant.  Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Fishing Creek Township.

A Viewing will be held Thursday, July 17th, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487).  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Christ the King Catholic Church, P. O. Box 297, Benton, PA 17814.
