Ruth A. (Laubach) Karns, 99, of Rohrsburg, died Tuesday morning, January 28th, 2020 at Brookdale, Bloomsburg.
Born November 18, 1920 in Fishing Creek Township, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Margaret (Lutz) Laubach. She was preceded in death by her two husbands: Kenneth Horn, who was killed in World War II and Oliver "Chubby" Karns, who died November 24, 1998.
Mrs. Karns was a 1938 graduate of Benton High School. She had been employed as a library technician at Bloomsburg State College, now known as Bloomsburg University for 15 years until her retirement in 1980. Years ago, she also had a beauty shop in Rohrsburg.
She had been an active member of the Rohrsburg Christian Church.
Mrs. Karns was an avid bowler and bowled in a league at the former Stenko Lanes in Berwick and also at the P-Nut Bowl in Bloomsburg.
Surviving are her three children: Nancy Mageovage, of Berwick; Donald E. Karns and his wife, Deborah, of Mechanicsburg; Michael D. Karns and his wife, Jennifer, of Benton; five grandchildren: Christine Mageovage, David Karns, Sarah (Karns) Warner, Matthew Karns, Alyce (Karns) Reavis; five great grandchildren: Evan, Hannah, Caden, Owen and Leah and a brother, Gerald Theodore "Ted" Laubach, of Bloomsburg.
Along with her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers: John "Jack" Laubach, David and Fred Laubach and by a sister, Barbara Everett.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 12 Noon at the Rohrsburg Christian Church with her Pastor, Michael Woolcock, officiating. Burial will be in the Rohrsburg Cemetery. A Viewing will be held Saturday from 11 A. M. until the time of the Service at noon at the Rohrsburg Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Rohrsburg Christian Church, 636 Rohrsburg Road, Orangeville, PA 17859.
