Ruth A. (Johnson) Wandell

Ruth Alena Wandell, 97, of Shickshinny, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Bonham’s Nursing Facility with family at her bedside.

Born in Huntington Mills, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Y. Johnson and Esther (Bilby) Johnson.

She married her beloved late husband, Russell B. Wandell in 1946. They were married for 60 years until his death in 2006.

She is survived by a daughter, Carol Kocher of Levittown, PA; a son, Roger Wandell and his wife Marion Saxe Wandell of rural Sweet Valley, PA; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Cora Trumpore of Buffalo, NY and Barbara Saxe of Sweet Valley, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers; Robert of Anchorage, AK, John of Berwick, PA, Floyd of Huntington Mills, PA, Kenneth of Newark, DE, Arthur of McKendree, PA, Larry of Orangeville, PA; and sisters, Elizabeth Good of Towanda, PA, Eleanor Thorne of Shickshinny, PA, Miriam Rice of Jersey Shore, PA, Louise Laubaugh of Hughesville, PA, and Hilda Rhinard of Benderstown, PA.

Ruth loved to spend her summers at Patterson Grove Campground where she was an active member. In the winters, she lived in Haines City, Florida where she was a volunteer, bowler, and shuffleboard player into her nineties. Ruth also loved to play games and cards with her family and she will be deeply missed by her loved ones and friends.

A celebration of life and memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11AM at the tabernacle in Patterson Grove, Harveyville, PA.
