Shirley A. (Shaffer) Ritter, 91, of Benton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday afternoon, September 28th, 2021 at the Gardens at Orangeville, where she had been a resident for the past eight years.
Born October 23, 1929 in Hughesville, she was a daughter of the late Delose and Myrtle (Taylor) Shaffer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harry L. Ritter, on April 24, 2017.
Mrs. Ritter was a graduate of Hughesville High School. During her later years she was employed by Ed & Dick's Ice Cream, Orangeville. She had also worked for the Hallmark Store for several years at the Columbia Mall until her retirement.
She was a member of the Benton Christian Church. She was a wonderful homemaker and also taught crocheting and knitting classes for many years. She was also an accomplished pianist and artist. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.
Surviving are her three children: Sharon Remphrey, of Danville; Garry Ritter and his wife, Beth Ann, of Benton and Nancy Remphrey. Also surviving are the following grandchildren: Master Sgt. Taylor Remphrey and his wife, Kimberly; Emalee Lear and her husband, Corey; Emily Smith and her husband, Tate; Jenny Hall and her husband, Dave, and Krysten Ritter.
Also surviving are the following great grandchildren: Blake and Shea Elizabeth Remphrey; Jayden and Anthony Vera; James, Alex and Lexi Halland Bruce Granofsky.
Graveside Services will be held Friday, October 8th, 2021 at 2 PM at the Benton Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. David A. Mansfield, officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Commonwealth Hospice, 1409 N. Market St., Suite 202, Berwick, PA 18603.
