Shirley J. (Hoyt) Sutton, 87, formerly of New Columbus Borough, died Saturday afternoon, January 2, 2021 at Bonham Nursing Center where she had been a resident for the past 9 years.
Born February 23, 1933 in Cambra, she was a daughter of the late Sterling and Ruby (Musselman) Hoyt. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Peter P. Sutton, Jr., on September 22nd, 2015.
Shirley had worked for various sewing/dress factories during her working career and following her retirement, cleaned houses as well as the Town Hill Church.
She was a member of the Town Hill United Methodist Church.
Shirley enjoyed being a homemaker and was known for the candy and baked goods that she made. She also loved to crochet.
Surviving are her two children: Diane L. Troutman and her husband, John; Peter P. Sutton, III and his wife, Jane, all of Shickshinny; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, Pete, she was preceded in death by her two sisters: Minnie Rea "Min" Puterbaugh, on April 19, 2020 and Evelyn Kerr, on May 18, 2006.
Private Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 9th, 2021 at the New Columbus Cemetery at 11 A. M. with Pastor Tyler Rauhauser, officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 57 N. Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701
