Susan K. (Karns) Thursby

Susan K. (Karns) Thursby, 78, of Benton, died Thursday afternoon,  August  28, 2025 at Brookdale,  Selinsgrove. 

Born October 7, 1946 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, she was a daughter of the late Edward J. Karns, who died July 1, 1980 and Helen Kent (Dixon) Karns, who died March 7, 2013. 

Susan was a 1964 graduate of Benton High School and a 1968 graduate of Mansfield State College. 

She taught school in the East Lycoming School District in Hughesville for 31 years, retiring in 1999. 

Susan was a member of the Benton United Methodist Church. 

Her hobbies included hiking, bird watching and kayaking.

Surviving are her husband, William J. "Bill" Thursby; a son, Evan Thursby and his wife, Kaitlyn, of Benton; a step son, Adam Thursby and his wife, Rachel, of N. Bangor, NY; two step grandsons:  Tristan and Connor.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Dixon Karns on December 12, 1992.

Private Graveside Services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Benton Cemetery with Pastor Steve Porschet, officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Benton Cemetery Association, P.
