Thomas J. Travitzky, 86, of Benton, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 22, 2020.
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota on December 30, 1933, he was a son to the late Joseph Thomas Travitzky and Montana Rose Lawler.
Mr. Travitzky was a graduate of John A. Johnson High School in St. Paul, MN, Class of 1951. He entered the U.S. Navy at age 17 and proudly served from 1952-1956. After his honorable discharge, Thomas began a 34 year career with the Philadelphia Electrical Company. Following his retirement, he served 2 terms on Briar Creek Borough Council. Not one to remain idle, Thomas obtained his CDL and drove cross country for two years, working for Rand Trucking and several local independent companies. He had also worked with PCI as an inspector on several projects. In his downtime, Thomas loved observing the wildlife around his home, woodworking, and watching football.
Surviving Thomas are children: Catherine Betham of Norristown, Virginia McBride of FL, Thomas Travitzky of The Isle of Wight, Paul Travitzky of GA; Michael Travitzky of Audubon; Susan Eilers and Lee Ann Travitzky-Leighow, both of North Carolina; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by a son, James Travitzky and brothers: Joseph Thomas Travitzky, Jr. and Edmund Travitzky.
Memorial Services along with Military Honors will be held Friday, March 26th, 2021 at 2 PM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487) with Pastor Scott L. Lyons, Stillwater Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Doe Run Church Cemetery, Coatesville, PA.
