William Megargell Obituary

William J. "Bill" Megargell, 72, of Orangeville, died Sunday, May 1, 2022 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born July 10, 1949 at the Bloomsburg Hospital, he was a son of the late C. Vincent and Edithmae (Hunsberger) Megargell.  He and his wife, LouAnn (Pennington) Megargell, celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on March 13th.

Bill was a graduate of Central Columbia High School, Class of 1967.  He furthered his education at Bloomsburg State College, now Bloomsburg University, where he graduated in 1971 with a B. A. in Business Administration.

He was a long time employee of Jack Metzer Ford in Danville where he was the office manager until his retirement in 2018, after 43 years of service.    

Bill was a lifelong and active member of the Orangeville United Church where he had served in numerous capacities including Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee, Auditor and a member of the Church Consistory.

He was a passionate American Bowling Congress bowler and had been active with bowling leagues since he was 16 years old.  He first bowled in a league at the former Stenko Lanes in Berwick and more recently at the P-Nut Bowl in Bloomsburg where he bowled in the Monday Night Merchant's League.  Other hobbies included golfing, hunting, traveling and playing tennis.  He was also an avid sports fan and followed the Phillies, Red Sox, Penn State as well as local sports teams.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, LouAnn, are his two sons:  Jeffrey D. Megargell and his wife, Megan, of Woburn, Massachusetts; John A. Megargell and his wife, Andrea, of Bloomsburg; his four grandchildren:  Carly, Chase, Grady, and Tristan; a sister, Gail Yohey and her husband, Richard, of Orangeville; two nieces and two great nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 6th, 2022 at 10 AM at the McMichael Funeral  Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487) with Rev. Mark E. Rowell, his Pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville.  A Viewing will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 PM  at McMichael's and from 9 AM until the time of the Service at 10 on Friday.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P. O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD  21741-5014 or to the Building Fund of the Orangeville United Church, P. O. Box 196, Orangeville, PA 17859.
