William J. "Bill" Johnson, Jr., 89, of Benton, formerly of Horsham in Montgomery County, died Monday evening, May 26, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born October 20, 1935 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late William J. Johnson, Sr. and Kathryn (Bitner) Johnson. He and his wife, Joyce A. (Wiley) Johnson, celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on May 6th.
Bill was a graduate of Abington High School and then attended a trade school. He was employed as a tool and die maker until his retirement in 1998.
He was a member of the former Benton Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Benton Archery Club and the Fishing Creek Sportsmen's Association.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Joyce, are his two children: Cheryl Ann Johnson (Hugh), of Hatboro, PA; Warren J. Johnson, of Chalfont, PA; five grandsons: Michael Jr., Henry, Samuel, Jacob, and Connor. Also surviving are two sisters: Barbara Holt, of Heathrow, FL and Carole Ianieri, (Richard), of Warrington, PA.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William J. Johnson, III.
Private Viewing and Services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Sugarloaf Township. The Rev. O. Allen Lumpkin, retired minister, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Benton Archery Club or the Fishing Creek Sportsmen's Association. Arrangements are under the direction of the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., of Benton.
