William D. “Bill” Schamberger, 77, of Berwick, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
Bill was born on December 15, 1948 in Regensburg, Germany, son of the late Darwin & Berta (Schamberger) Siegfried.
Bill graduated from Nescopeck H.S. in 1967 and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968 as a motor pool specialist. He proudly served our country and fought in the Vietnam war. Upon returning from the Army, Bill worked for various local factories as a mechanic including Milco, National Select, and most recently Berwick Offray until his retirement in 2013. He was a member of the Shickshinny American Legion Post 495 and the Sheriffs Organization.
Some of his pastimes included, researching local genealogy, listening to all kinds of music, and doing jig-saw puzzles. He had a special place in his heart for animals and loved his dogs, Angel and Duggar. Most of all he loved spending time with his wife, Sandy and his grandkids.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Kay (Evans) Schamberger, with whom he shared 26 years of marriage; his step-children, Michael Phillips and his companion Cassie of Catawissa, Amanda Bostain and her companion James of Bloomsburg, and Kari Wood and her husband Aaron of New Hampshire; 7 step-grandchildren, Dylan, Austin, Destiny, Michael, Damein, Eric and Raymond; 4 step-great-grandchildren, Christopher, Dahlia, Braelynn and Ashton.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his step-son, Eric Hess; his step-father George Siegfried; and a step-great grandson, Adonis Phillips.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026; 11 a.m. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., in Benton. A viewing will precede the service beginning at 10 a.m. where the family will receive friends.
