Operation of First Class. I have been in several funeral homes in our area and this one is the best all around. My funeral arrangements will be there.

He laminated dad's obituary for the family and made sure I had materials to handle grief/loss. He gets an A+++++! Excellent and personal efforts.

It was a day we never think will arrive; the death of a parent. The person whom brought you into this world, taught you how to throw a baseball and catch a football, taught you how to bait a hook and aim a rifle, was now at rest and peace with God. Having been over 3000 miles away when I got that dreadful call, I quickly began to organize and plan for a flight out the next morning. I can remember very vividly not sleeping a wink that night and arriving at the airport to get into a confrontation with a security guard about unloading my families bags on the curb so I could park the car. Nothing seemed to matter, because I was on a different kind of mission that I am used to; this one involved seeing that my father got a military service that he much deserved and lying him to rest with his buddies. I remember walking through the airport and feeling encapsulated, as I could neither hear anything around me or focus my vision nor senses. Being that my Dad had served on many military funeral processions, it was his wishes to have McMichael Funeral Home handle the service. From the moment I had met with Bruce McMichael, he had sensed my loss and knew exactly how to handle it. Bruce began to put things in order with absolutely no pressure and very little thought process on my end. He gave us a bunch of literature and checklists which were very helpful for someone whom hasn't dealt with a situation of this nature. Bruce comforted my wife and I and began to bring out the brighter days in my Dad's life. We left his office feeling very confident that my Dad was in good hands. On the day of the service we arrived to an absolutely beautiful funeral home. The service and preparation that Bruce was responsible for was nothing short of class. Having known that my Dad was a Viet-Nam Veteran, he tailored the service to a 'Patriotic Theme" which brought many tears of sadness and joy. He allowed me to post pictures on a board so visitors could view my Dad during his better days. Mr Scott Lyons served as the Pastor for the service and I can say without a doubt that his words were so uplifting and healing to my family and friends. After the service, we proceeded to the burial site in Bloomsburg where Bruce was with me every step of the way. Without regard, Bruce and Scott were able to lift everyone up on a day of sadness and turn it into a day of remembrance. None of us ever look to the day when we lose a loved one. Bruce helped us through the process every step of the way and began to pull me away from the dark day in the airport to a new day of celebrating my Dads' life. Bruce has become a close friend, and while at home for Christmas we met at the funeral home. On the porch was a beautiful fresh cut Pennsylvania Christmas Tree decorated with white doves and remembrance cards of the people whom have passed throughout the year. This is one of the many ways that Bruce lets those know, that the memories whom have passed through the funeral home will never be forgotten within the community.

Bruce McMichael has no room for improvement. He was caring, compassionate and above all, open to any suggestions and ideas we had of our own....we have never had to plan a funeral. With the help of friends and family who have at one time or another went to Bruce, they convinced us to call him. It was through their experiences with McMichael Funeral Home that they urged us to call. As it turned out, it was the best advice....Bruce worked with our Pastor; made all the arrangements, and stood by our side through this terrible time in our lives. We think how ironic it is to be writing a letter of our wonderful experience when our own lives have been turned upside down. He is no longer "Mr. McMichael". He's "Bruce", a new friend and a very dear friend to this community. I know someday we will be calling on his services again....because of the great person and professional he is.

Mr. McMichael showed much sympathy and concern for the family before the services and after. The whole experience had many memorable things but most memorable is how well we were treated by Bruce McMichael.

Bruce had handled services for my sister-in-law and mother back in 1987. When we realized Dad was not going to "make it"--we immediately contacted Bruce--it was the easiest decision we had to make and the decision was unanimous with my four brothers and one sister--something we all agreed on. Dear Bruce, I knew the first time I looked up and saw the kindness in your face, mom was in good hands. We have had to plan and carry out the plans for many funerals but never have had such a wonderful experience as we did with Bruce. He was caring, warm and extremely professional. There wasn't anything more he could have done for our family. Whenever anything came up he handled everything perfectly. The day of the funeral if we needed him he was right there. We must say he is the kindest man in the profession that we have ever met. Our pastor met him for the first time and so enjoyed the opportunity to work with Bruce. Bruce was so comfortable to have as our funeral director that we never hesitated to ask for his help. There was no stumbling through anything, he was there with answers and support.
